The 140th winner of the St Leger (although now called the September Stakes due to it being moved from Doncaster because of the First World War), held on Wednesday 15th September 1915 over the 1 mile 6 furlongs of the Cesarewitch course at Newmarket, was Pommern, a bay colt by Polymelus out of Merry Agnes, owned by Mr Solly Joel. A field of 7 runners contested the race which was worth £1,250. (Equivalent to £132,500 in 2017)
